Came to the US about 1850. Worked as a shoemaker in Waukesha and saved his money to bring his parents, brothers and
sisters to the US. They arrived about 1853 and the story is when he received a letter that they had arrived in Milwaukee he went
on foot to meet them and they all returned on foot to Vernon.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday for Miss Ellen McNaughton, 65, who died at her home, 306 Carroll St., Saturday noon
after a lingering illness. Born in the town of Waukesha, she was the daughter of the late John D. and Margaret McNaughton.
She attended Carroll College and the Whitewater State Teacher's College and was a teacher in the rural schhols of Waukesha
County for many years. Then she served at teacher of commercial subjects at the Dixon Business College and later graduated
from the State University of Washington-Seattle. She taught at Cashmere, Washington for many years, retiring in 1936. She is
survived by two sisters, Mrs. C.E. Vanderpool and Miss Margaret McNaughton; two nieces, Mrs. Walter Furrer and Mrs. Anna
Wheaton, a nephew John D. Gross, a brother-in-law, G.W.Gross, eight grand nieces and two grand nephews, all of Waukesha.
She was a member of the U.P.Church of Vernon. Burial in the U. P. Cemetery at Vernon.

Mrs. William Sleep, better known by her girlhood name of Edna McNaughton, died at her home in the southern part of the town
of Waukesha, Saturday evening, after a two week illness of meningitis. She was 28 years of age and had been married only
since last March. Her husband survives, as do also her mother, Mrs. John D. McNaughton, her brother, Alexander of the town of
Waukesha, and five sisters: Mrs. C.E. Venderpook of Vernon, Mrs. Don Gross of the town of Waukesha, Miss Susan J.
McNaughton of Rockford, IL, Miss Margaret who resides with her mother, and Miss Ellen, who is a teacher at Oelwein, Iowa. The
sisters absent from home were called here by the sad news. Mrs. Sleep was the youngest of her family. She appeared to be well
and strong and her sudden death comes as a crushing blow to family and friends by whom she was tenderly beloved. Funeral
services were held at the Sleep residence Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock. Rev. John Lloyd of the city officiating. Interment was
in Prairie Home Cemetery.

Notes for EUGENE D. SPRAGUE: Eugene D. Sprague died at his residence in this village at 2 o'clock Friday morning, Sept.
15th, of consumption, after a lingering illness of several months. The deceased was born in the township of Mukwonago, Sept.
28, 1857. Soon thereafter, with his parents, he moved to the township of Vernon where he continued to reside until about eight
years ago, when he located in this village (Mukwonago). The funeral was held from the residence on Grand avenue at 1 o'clock
Sunday afternoon to the M.E. church in Vernon, Rev. C.W. Merritt, pastor of the Cong'l church of this village officiating. The
singing was by Miss Lartz and Geo Hudson and Miss Platz as organist. After the services were concluded at the church the
remains were conveyed to their final resting place in the cemetery near Vernon Center, and placed beside those of his first wife.
The cortege which followed was an unusually long one - over 100 teams being in line. Mr. Sprague was a member of the orders
of M.W. of A. and R.N. of A., and many members from camps of these orders of this village, Vernon, Caldwell and Prospect
attended his funeral. Prospect camp, of which at one time he was a member, sent a floral pillow as an expression of esteem in
which members of the camp held him. Mukwonago camps, M.W. of A. and R. N. of A. donated beautiful floral tributes of wreaths
and pillows.

married to W. John Marks on June 19, 1937 at Waukesha. The Marks resided on a farm in the Town of Ixonia for the past 28
years. She is survived by her husband; four daughters, Mrs. Richard (Judith) Schulte, Sun Prairie; Mrs. Roger (Joanne) Annen,
Waukesha; and Janet and Joyce Marks, at home; two brothers, Arthur W. Sprague, Milwaukee, and Robert E. Sprague,
Phoenix, Arizona; two grandchildren and other relatives. Friends may call at the Notbohm Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Thursday.
The Rosary will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday.
